After James' death Margaret J. married Thomas Ross. In 1860 they were residing in Clackamas County, Oregon, neighbors to Robert and Rachel (Harris) Thompson and John and Elisabeth (Thompson) Drake. Residing with Thomas and Margaret was a Catherine N. McFresh (McElfresh) age 12. I believe she was a daughter of James and Margaret J. (Van Horn) McElfresh

McElfresh, James (z) Yr: 1834, Date: Nov 17, Residence: Belmont Co, OH, Range 12 Township 08 Section 26.

It is hereby certified, That, in pursuance of Law, James McElfresh of Belmont county, State of Ohio on this day purchased of the Register of this Office, the lot or North half of the Northeast Quarter of
section number thirty five in township number eight of range number thirteen containing eighty acres and sixty six hundreths of an acre at the rate of one dollar and twenty five cents per acre, amounting to one
Hundred dollars and Eighty three cents, for which the said James McElfresh has made payment in full as required by law.
Now therefore be it known, That, on presentation of this certificate to the Commissioner of the General Land Office, the said James McElfresh shall be entitled to receive a patent for the lot above
described.

Special session of the Court of Common Pleas held in the Town of
McConnelsville in the County of Morgan and State of Ohio on the 5th day
of April A.D. 1848, present Jess M. Stone, William _______ and
Nathaniel Shepart the Associate Judge of said Court.

ESTATE OF JAMES MC ELFRESH, DEC'D.

Margaret McElfresh, widow of James McElfresh dec'd, made known to the Court in writing that she relinquished her right to Administer on the estate of her deceased husband in favor of James Newall, who gave bond in the sum of one thousand dollars with Garrison McElfresh and
George Parsons to the acceptance of the Court and conditioned as the law directs. Ordered that Hugh Thompson, John Greir and James Glass appraise the personal property belonging to said estate.

GUARDIAN APPOINTED

On motion to the Court, William R. McElfresh is appointed Guardian of James H. McElfresh, aged 13 years, Henry G. McElfresh, aged 12 years and Harriet Matilda, aged 10 years, children and heirs at law of James McElfresh dec'd who gave bond with Garrison McElfresh, as security, to the acceptance of the Court in the sum of $300 conditioned as the law directs.
